Jeremiah Smith is making good on the elite expectations he faced at Ohio State, and he has opened his college career by scoring in every game he has seen the field.

On Saturday, Smith and the Buckeyes are facing Oregon in Eugene in a game of massive proportions. After a quiet first half from Smith, he burst out early in the 2nd half.

He delivered one big gain of 38 yards on the first drive of the 2nd half and would pop up again in the red zone. Facing a 2nd-and-goal, Will Howard escaped the pocket and was able to see Smith streaking near the sideline for the touchdown.

While the touchdown goes to Smith it was Howard’s scrambling that helped open up the play and find Smith.

Smith’s grab gives him a receiving touchdown in each of his first 6 games in Columbus. He now has 7 receiving touchdowns, 8 touchdowns overall and is looking for his 3rd game with multiple touchdowns.

It has taken just 6 games for Smith to tie David Boston (1996) for the 2nd-most receiving touchdowns by a true freshman in Buckeye history. Cris Carter still holds the all-time freshman record with 8 from his 1984 season, but it is only a matter of time before Smith grabs that spot by himself.
