Jeremiah Smith dealing with apparent injury after big gain vs. Northwestern
Jeremiah Smith continues to do impressive things on a regular basis for Ohio State. Unfortunately, the star freshman came up a bit hobbled after his latest spectacle against Northwestern.
Facing a 3rd-and-5 deep in their own territory, quarterback Will Howard connected with Smith over the middle for a nice catch-and-run. Smith rolled for 68 yards to bring his game total up to an even 100 against the Wildcats.
Smith’s big gain would set up another touchdown for the Buckeyes, but he came up gingerly after getting tackled. Here’s how the play went down:

Smith’s left ankle was certainly involved in the tackle, and the BTN broadcast crew later captured Smith getting work on that ankle. After a tape job, he was seen running on the sidelines to test it out.
At this point, it doesn’t look like Smith’s injury will keep him out of the lineup. Still, it is something to monitor as the Buckeyes move forward.
Smith leads the Buckeyes in receiving yardage after his big gain, but Carnell Tate is having a strong outing in his Chicago homecoming. Tate is up to 2 touchdowns on the game to go with 52 yards while tying Smith with 4 catches at this point in the game.
