Jeremiah Smith obliterates Oregon for 2nd Rose Bowl TD in first half
Jeremiah Smith is a monster at wide receiver, and Ohio State’s stud freshman has proved too much for Oregon to handle in the Rose Bowl.
After scoring on the game’s opening possession, the Buckeyes have gone back to Smith time and time again. And, after a turnover on downs near midfield by the Ducks, it was time for Smith to deliver yet again.
Ohio State was facing a 2nd-and-5 just past midfield and already holding a 17-0 lead when Will Howard let another deep ball fly. But the level of difficulty on this play was provided during Smith’s route-running with the receiver wide open by 5 yards on the play.
Howard’s throw was still on the money, but it was a 2nd walk-in touchdown for Smith after he also trotted into the end zone on his first score of the game. Here’s how it went down:

Smith already has 5 catches for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns before we even get to halftime. However, he still has a long ways to go to reach Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s Rose Bowl receiving record from the 2022 Rose Bowl win over Utah.
To make matters worse, Ohio State is simply pouring things on in Pasadena. After Smith made it 24-0, a quick stop and long rushing touchdown by TreVeyon Henderson have cemented a full-blown beatdown with a 31-0 first-half lead for the Buckeyes.
Right now, Dan Lanning and the top-seeded Ducks are reeling and have not found an answer.
