Jeremiah Smith is off to an electric start for Ohio State. The impact freshman is the team leader with 11 catches for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Chip Kelly has confirmed a featured role is likely to continue.

So, what is the ceiling for Smith’s time in Columbus? According to ESPN’s Tom Luginbill, Smith is poised to become the GOAT of Ohio State receivers. Luginbill also compared Smith to Julio Jones and AJ Green, 2 NFL stars with 14 Pro Bowl appearances and 2 first-team All-Pro selections between them.

“Jeremiah Smith is going to go down, in my opinion, as the greatest receiver to ever play at Ohio State, and he’s 2 games into his career. Yes, you heard that correctly. This guy is on a different level,” Luginbill predicted. “He is on a Julio Jones, AJ Green type of level when it comes to WR play. He’s just too good.”

In case anyone has forgotten, Ohio State’s elite list of receivers has no shortage of star power. Marvin Harrison Jr., Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are just some of the players on that list to play in the modern era of Buckeye football.

Skeptics will continue to point to the fact that Smith has only played 2 career games, but the physical tools are obvious. If Smith avoids any serious injury, he’s poised to deliver a career for the ages.
