Jim Knowles met with reporters Tuesday ahead of the Buckeyes’ Week 6 matchup against Maryland.

The Terps are looking to lift themselves over the hump after 2 years of 7-and-8-win seasons. Maryland has started the season 5-0 with wins over Michigan State, Virginia and Indiana – not exactly CFP contenders.

If the Terps want to win in Week 6 against a strong Buckeyes defense it starts with the right arm of Terps QB Taulia Tagovailoa.

Knowles was asked to evaluate the Maryland QB Tuesday. The Ohio State DC called Tagovailoa “dynamic” with a strong arm. But he also makes good decisions with the football.

Through Week 5 Tagovailoa, brother of NFL QB Tua Tagovailoa, has thrown for 1,464 yards with 13 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

He leads the B1G in passing yards, passing yards per game and touchdowns while also sitting 3rd in completion percentage at 65.7%, just under J.J. McCarthy and Tanner Mordecai. He’s attempted more passes than any B1G QB minus Purdue’s Hudson Card.

it doesn’t take an overwhelming knowledge of the game to understand these are incredible numbers, even against some pedestrian competition. He’ll have a chance to prove his efficacy to the nation Saturday at Noon on FOX.
