Jim Knowles offers injury update for Tommy Eichenberg, future plans for CJ Hicks
Jim Knowles was uncertain on Tommy Eichenberg’s chances of playing in the Cotton Bowl at Tuesday’s press conference.
Eichenberg has missed some time recently with an elbow injury and would be missed on defense if he’s unable to play against Missouri. Eichenberg leads Ohio State with 82 total tackles heading into Friday’s game. The Ohio State linebacker has also accounted for 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 interception.
Jim Knowles says Tommy Eichenberg is still up in the air in terms of ability to play this week. He’s been dealing with an elbow injury.

Knowles has been impressed by CJ Hicks this season. Knowles believes Hicks should be given more freedom on defense and is excited to get to work with the Ohio State linebacker more in 2024. Hicks has played in 24 games over the last 2 seasons while accounting for 14 total tackles and 1 tackle for loss during that time.
Jim Knowles says CJ Hicks needs to be unleashed and free to roam and make plays. Knowles is driven to make that happen next season.

The Buckeyes will be hoping to have both Eichenberg and Hicks during the Cotton Bowl. Ohio State can finish off the 2023 season with a New Year’s 6 Bowl win over Missouri if it all pans out for the team.
Friday’s game will start at 8 p.m. ET and be shown on ESPN.
