Jim Knowles shoulders responsibility for Ohio State's horrific defensive showing in loss to Michigan
Jim Knowles knows his defense did not perform well enough against Michigan.
The usually-strong Buckeye defense was absolutely torched, allowing Michigan to obtain 530 yards of total offense. Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy threw for 263 yards and 3 TDs. The Wolverines are known for their rushing attack, but that did not prevent the team from connecting on deep passes all day long.
After the game, Knowles said “certainly that falls on me,” regarding the big plays. “I just take responsibility. That’s all I can do.” Knowles said. “I didn’t do a good enough job and I need to do better.”
Jim Knowles on giving up big plays: “The explosives, when they go for touchdowns, they become a different story. … When they go for touchdowns, certainly that falls on me and you’re right, I need to look at it.”

Ryan Day also chimed in on the defensive effort, saying the explosive plays “should have never happened.”
Ryan Day on the big, explosive plays for Michigan:
“Certainly, there were breakdowns in the back end. That was clear to see,” he said. “The floodgates kind of opened up, and the game got out of control. That should have never happened.”
