Joe Burrow says Super Bowl loss will 'fuel' Cincinnati for years
Joe Burrow almost did it.
In just his second season as an NFL quarterback, Burrow nearly led the Cincinnati Bengals to their first-ever Super Bowl victory. A touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to Cooper Kupp with 1:25 remaining to give the Los Angeles Rams a 23-20 lead proved to be the difference.

Despite the loss, Cincinnati enjoyed an outstanding season and a magical playoff run. It’s not enough for Burrow, though, who says the loss will be fresh in the minds of he and his teammates for some time.
“We’ll take this and let it fuel us for the next few years,” Burrow said, per Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch.

Burrow was also upset with his individual performance in Sunday’s Super Bowl loss. He completed 22-of-33 passes for 263 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Burrow was sacked 7 times, though.
“I was disappointed in my performance overall,” Burrow said. “I thought I could play better.”
Because of the success he enjoyed this season, Burrow is now in the NFL spotlight. He’ll be regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in the game heading into the 2022 season. The Bengals will likely be a favorite to return to the Super Bowl, as well.
