Joe Philbin, a former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator and Miami Dolphins head coach, is reportedly heading to Columbus, Ohio.

According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Philbin was hired by the Buckeyes as an offensive analyst, making the OSU offense that much more deadly just like that.

Philbin struggled as a head coach in the NFL — he posted a 26-30 record as HC in Miami — but saw a lot of success as Green Bay’s offensive coordinator from 2007-2011 and 2018. Under the direction of Philbin, the Packers won the Super Bowl in 2010 and ranked within the top 10 in total points and yards every year.

That’s a pretty solid analyst hire.

Saying Ohio State is going to be dangerous offensively may be a massive understatement. The Buckeyes return their top 2 receivers from last season, most of their production at running back and will still have a strong offensive line to move the ball and give the offense time to develop.

The one “question mark” is the QB position, but it mostly revolves around which QB will step up to lead the offense come fall: Devin Brown or Kyle McCord.
