Joel Klatt explains why Ohio State faces a constant double standard
Joel Klatt acknowledges there’s a high standard of excellence at Ohio State. However, the FOX Sports analyst believes the Buckeyes are being treated with a double standard.
No. 6 Ohio State handled Western Kentucky 63-1o in Week 3. Yet, Klatt points out that the rout doesn’t have a wow factor because of the program’s lofty expectations.

“They’re in a lose-lose all the time,” Klatt said. “Because if they look great, we just say: ‘Well that’s what they should do.’ Then if they struggle at all or they look sluggish at all we just hammer them for it…Their fan base, man. They are hard on that program. The national media is hard on that program.”
Ohio State is off to an undefeated start with new quarterback Kyle McCord working his way into form. That’s enough reason for optimism from Klatt, who says this weekend’s clash at No. 9 Notre Dame will be a measuring stick.
“This is a team that’s 3-0. They’re breaking in a new quarterback. He is looking better and better and played his best game last week,” Klatt said. “We’re going to find out everything we need to know about Ohio State this week when they face Notre Dame.”
Ohio State at Notre Dame is slated for a 7:30 p.m. EST kickoff on Saturday and will be televised on NBC.
