Joel Klatt explains why Ohio State QB CJ Stroud tops his Heisman rankings list
Joel Klatt knows talent when it comes to quarterbacks. No surprise, he’s all-in on Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud entering the 2nd half of the season.
Klatt listed Stroud as his front-runner to win the Heisman in 2022 after a fast start with the Buckeyes. Currently, Stroud leads all FBS passers in passing touchdowns (24) passer rating (207.6) and yards per pass attempt (10.9).

Entering November, the race appears to be a 2-man showing between Stroud and Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker. Klatt said the biggest asset for Stroud’s status for the top spot is his consistency through conference games.

In 3 conference games, Stroud has been pinpoint accurate, completing 67.6% of his throws for 796 yards and 13 TDs against 3 interceptions. Ohio State also leads the nation in scoring offense under his direction, averaging 48.8 points per outing.
Other names on Klatt’s radar include Michigan running back Blake Corum, UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, USC quarterback Caleb Williams and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
The Buckeyes are set to face Iowa at home on Saturday at noon E.T. on FOX.
