“So where would I start? The first 5 names I would call, I would force them to tell me no,” explained Klatt. “That doesn’t mean that these guys are going to say yes, but I’m going to at least see if there’s a crack in the door. If they say no, that’s fine, but I gotta swing big if I’m the AD.”

Along with Day, Klatt lists Lincoln Riley, Brian Kelly, Urban Meyer, and Dabo Swinney on his list of coaches that he’d call. Each of those candidates is currently a head coach of a prominent program with Meyer in his first year in the NFL.

After that, Klatt then turned to the next list of coaches that he’d call after those 5 would more than likely say no.

They are Mario Cristobal, Jeff Hafley (former Ohio State co-DC/current Boston College HC), Eric Bieniemy, Josh McDaniels, Joe Brady, and Deion Sanders. Klatt attributed recruiting, charisma, and NFL DNA for these 6 on why they’d be a great fit for the culture of the Trojans.

Before taking the job at BC, Hafley was with OSU during the 2019 season.
