Joel Klatt shares thoughts on Seth McLaughlin injury, implications for Ohio State's title hopes
Joel Klatt is not downplaying the implications of Ohio State’s latest offensive line injury. The team already lost starting left tackle Josh Simmons to a season-ending injury last month, and on Tuesday, the team also lost starting center Seth McLaughlin for the year.
The quarterback-turned-analyst thinks the loss of McLaughlin is huge for the Buckeyes. Klatt mentioned that McLaughlin has been playing “at an All-American level” and has been “vital” to the Buckeyes’ success.
“I’m here to tell you, this is massive for Ohio State,” declared Klatt. “He was the foundational piece of the offensive line right in the middle. They had been struggling at each guard spot, but he was the foundation.”
Ryan Day shared that Carson Hinzman would switch to center from left guard and Austin Siereveld would step in as the starting right guard. Hinzman started every game at center for the Buckeyes in 2023, but the team added McLaughlin due to Hinzman’s struggles.
“The middle of that offensive line is a major question mark. Major question mark,” said Klatt. “And that is not where you want to be when you’re going into a matchup against Indiana.”
