There’s no question Ohio State was the better team on Friday night. In the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day, the Buckeyes pummeled Clemson in a 49-28 contest to advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Jan. 11.
After a competitive first half, it was all Ohio State.
While the Buckeyes taking down the Tigers to move on to the title game wasn’t exactly the most surprising thing in the world, the overall performance from OSU was truly impressive. FOX college football analyst Joel Klatt was thoroughly impressed by what he saw on Friday night, and paid an incredible compliment to head coach Ryan Day.
“I have to think to myself, Ryan Day sat around all summer and thought about Clemson,” Klatt said in a video on FOX College Football. “It seemed like he had prepared for them for months and months and months.”
Day and several Ohio State players talked frequently about how last year’s loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl left a sour taste in their mouths. The program’s entire goal was to return to the College Football Playoff to get another shot to prove it could beat anyone in the country.
The Buckeyes are one step closer to reaching that goal.
Below are Klatt’s complete thought’s on Ohio State’s 21-point drubbing of Clemson in the Sugar Bowl:
