Harrison left the game with a concussion and didn’t play the rest of the game. Klatt believes that if Harrison was able to play in the game that Ohio State would be going to the national championship instead of Georgia.
“That game completely changed, and to be quite fair, Georgia had a glimmer of hope only once Marvin Harrison Jr. was knocked out of that game. There’s not a doubt in my mind if he stays in the game, I think the fourth quarter is different… Ohio State probably wins if (Harrison) stays on the field.”
Klatt further went on to explain that in his opinion targeting should have been called.
“Once the flag comes out and they go to replay, it’s not like a normal replay. They are going to go into replay and they are trying to confirm all aspects of targeting to keep it on. So what they’re trying to do is take the targeting off.
“With that being said, do I think that was targeting? Let’s put it this way: I do not believe Harrison had a whiplash concussion, and I don’t believe his head hit the ground. So how in the world is he knocked out or stunned unless there’s forcible contact to his head. Do I believe the foul should have stayed on? Yes.”
Do you agree with Klatt? The call definitely would have changed the game.
