JT Barrett begins coaching career with job on NFL staff

JT Barrett was a record-breaking quarterback at Ohio State before heading to the NFL. Now, he’s joining the coaching ranks with a gig on an NFL staff.

On Saturday, the Detroit Lions announced that Barrett was joining the staff of head coach Dan Campbell. Barrett will be an Offensive Assistant under OC Ben Johnson and QB coach Mark Brunell.

Barrett went undrafted in 2018 after his career with the Buckeyes. He bounced around the NFL with stops for the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had a stop in the CFL with the Edmonton Elks before taking the coaching job with the Lions.

During his time with the Buckeyes, Barrett was a 3-time first-team All-B1G selection and 3-time recipient. He still holds the program record for passing yards (9,434), passing TDs (104), total offense (12,697 yards) and TDs responsible for (147). of the Griese-Brees QB of the Year Award.
