Justin Fields is performing as advertised in his first start in Columbus.

The Georgia transfer arrived at Ohio State with plenty of expectations. Those expectations only grew after a strong fall camp that saw him win the starting position. Now, he’s making all the right plays in the season opener.

Fields started the scoring by utilizing his legs just minutes into the game. He kept the ball on one option play before breaking into the open and racing 51 yards for the score.

We heard about his elite speed throughout the offseason, and it is impressive on display:

Fields’ arm also looks outstanding. He accounted for three passing touchdowns in the half, including this one to Binjimen Victor down the sideline.

He put just the right amount of touch on it for the big score:

For the first half, Fields finished 10 of 16 through the air for 172 yards and 3 TDs. He’s added 7 carries for 37 yards and another score.
