Justin Fields wrapped up the 2022 NFL season as a player on the rise after completing his second season with the Chicago Bears. Now, Fields is trying to do his part to give back to the next generation in Chicago.

According to Joanie Lum with FOX32 Chicago, Fields recently donated $10,000 to the Special Olympics in Chicago. The donation came through a personal foundation Fields has launched with the purpose of helping young people in the Chicago community.

“The foundation really came from just trying to help the community, trying to strengthen the community in all areas,” said Fields to FOX32 Chicago. “I really just wanted to do that through grants in areas of youth empowerment, leadership development, scholastic achievement and health and wellness. [This is] the first opportunity we got and we’re definitely excited for it, so it’s an awesome opportunity for sure.”

Fields made the donation — the first of his foundation — during Dunkin’ Donuts’ 20th Annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser on May 19. That fundraiser is designed to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois. Fields’ father, Pablo, is a retired Atlanta police sergeant.

On the football field, Fields produced over 3,300 yards of offense and 25 touchdowns for the Bears during the 2022 season. While the season was not without its struggles, Fields showed he can be a player to build around moving forward. Now, he’s also looking to give back to the community around him.
