For the first time as an NFL quarterback, Justin Fields has reached the end zone.

The first touchdown for the rookie quarterback came in the 3rd quarter of Saturday’s preseason game between the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. Fields avoided being sacked before breaking loose for an impressive 8-yard touchdown scamper.

Fields was off to a rough start, completing just 2 of his first 6 passes for 10 yards. He’s settled in quite nicely since then, though. The touchdown run brought the Bears within 3 points of the Dolphins, trailing 13-10.

At the time of the touchdown, Fields had completed 11-of-16 passes for 106 yards. He also had 12 yards and a touchdown on 4 carries.

Not a bad start for the rookie.

Early in the game, it was easy to see that Fields had some rookie jitters. That’s expected in his first career game in the NFL. It only took him a half to get settled in and start finding some success, though.
