Justin Fields transferring to Ohio State is officially official.

Friday night, the former 5-star and Georgia quarterback announced via Twitter that he was leaving Athens and headed to Columbus. His statement confirms a report from Letterman Row earlier in the day that Fields was expected to join the program over the weekend.

“I’ve decided to transfer to Ohio State University where I will continue to pursue my undergraduate degree and play football for the Buckeyes,” Fields said in a statement.

Based on previous reports, Fields is expected to petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility.

Fields played in 12 games for Georgia this season. He completed 27-of-39 pass attempts for 328 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 266 yards and four touchdowns in his freshman season.

Fields was the No. 2 prospect in the 2018 recruiting class. In his statement, Fields said he would not be doing any interviews regarding his decision.
