Ohio State has been one of the most consistent programs in the country, but the past couple of seasons each saw some hiccups throughout.

In 2018, the Buckeyes rolled to an 11-1 regular-season record and captured the B1G Championship in dominant fashion over Northwestern. Unfortunately, that lone loss was a blowout to Purdue that ultimately hampered the team’s chances to make the College Football Playoff.

Similarly, in 2017, Ohio State posted a 10-2 regular season and won the B1G over a talented Wisconsin squad. And once again, Ohio State’s second loss of the season was a blowout defeat at the hands of Iowa that kept the Buckeyes out of the Playoff.

With that recent history in mind, the current group of Buckeyes needs to stay focused to avoid a letdown or upset. According to quarterback Justin Fields, he said that is exactly what this team is focused on doing.

After Saturday’s blowout win over Nebraska, Fields commented that this team is moving week-to-week and is not getting wrapped up in long-term goals. He’s well aware of the previous slip-ups, and he does not want that happening this season.

Colin Hass-Hill with Eleven Warriors shared Fields’ comments:

After blowing out Nebraska, the Buckeyes return home to face a tougher defensive unit in Michigan State next weekend.
