The Justin Fields saga is still in the early stages, but reports continue to link the freshman quarterback to a potential transfer to the Buckeyes.
Fields was widely regarded as one of the two best players for the 2018 class, along with Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, when he signed with Georgia. Unfortunately, sophomore Jake Fromm held onto the starting role with the Bulldogs this season while Fields played sparingly.
Since the season ended, there has been widespread speculation that Fields will transfer to gain more playing time with Ohio State reportedly the leader to land him. While everything remains speculation at this point, Mark Schlabach with ESPN reported Wednesday evening that Fields does have an interest in transferring to Ohio State:
Sources told ESPN on Wednesday that Fields is interested in transferring to Ohio State, where star quarterback Dwayne Haskins is expected to forgo his senior season and enter April’s NFL draft.
If Haskins does leave for the NFL, getting Fields to transfer would likely be a huge win for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. Time will tell if he truly intends to leave the Bulldogs.
