Justin Fields reveals why he unfollowed the Chicago Bears on Instagram
Justin Fields made headlines last week when fans discovered that he had unfollowed the Chicago Bears on Instagram.
Fields’ status with the Bears is in question as the franchise determines its future at the quarterback position. Chicago has the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and could select a QB from that spot. It’s also possible the Bears could go in another direction and stick with Fields under center for 2024 and beyond.
Fields said the decision to unfollow the Bears was not related to any discontent with the franchise. He spoke about it on The 33rd Team with Amon-Ra and Equanimeous St. Brown.
“I’m glad we’re talking about it, because why do people take social media so seriously?” Fields said. “I still mess with the Bears. I’m just trying to take a little break. I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL. I’m not just trying to have football on my timeline.”
Fields also acknowledged the brewing debate regarding his future with the Bears and the possibility that Chicago could draft USC’s Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick.
“It’s just something that I don’t want to see on my timeline,” Fields added. “I’m about to go on vacation, I don’t want to see no football … “It’s either ‘keep Fields’ or ‘we want Fields’ or ‘draft Caleb’ … So it’s like bruh, man I’m tired of hearing the talk.
“I just want it to be over.”

Fields may have to wait for a couple more months before his future is solidified. The 2024 NFL Draft will be held from April 25-27.
