Justin Fields is hitting the field for NFL preseason action. He’s looking to get settled and adjusted with a new coaching regime for the Chicago Bears while trying to make a jump in Year 2.

Unfortunately, Fields took one late hit to the head – a play that traditionally draws a flag – that went uncalled by the officiating crew. After scrambling out of the pocket, Fields went down to the ground with a feet-first slide when he was hit in the head by a defender.

Fields and new Bears head coach Matt Eberflus were visibly upset with the officiating crew. The broadcast can also be heard discussing how such a play draws a flag “9 out of 10 times” with the league traditionally trying to protect quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, Fields did not get that kind of treatment.

Despite the hit, Fields has posted a solid outing with the offense. After getting sacked on the first drive of the game, Fields has gone 4-for-7 passing for 48 yards and a nice 10-yard scramble. His performance also included a pair of beautiful deep throws.
