The opening weekend was a big one for quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins and Joe Burrow.
The two used to be teammates at Ohio State, but Burrow opted to leave Columbus and landed in the SEC, signing with LSU. Still, both gunslingers were making the first Week 1 start of their careers, and considering the history of the two programs, there was a lot of pressure on those guys.
But Haskins and Burrow delivered in big ways Saturday. Haskins threw for over 300 yards and five touchdowns in a 77-31 win over Oregon State. Burrow led LSU to a 33-17 upset victory over Miami in Arlington, Texas.
After huge weekends from both guys, ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit had a message for the two quarterbacks.
Congratulations to @dh_simba7 and @Joe_Burrow10 on their 1st career starts after both sitting behind @JT_theQB4th. Dwayne with big numbers Joe with a HUGE win in a big time atmosphere. Wish them both all the best rest of the year.

Those are some major props from one of the most prominent voices covering the sport.
Both Haskins and Burrow were behind J.T. Barrett at Ohio State last season, as the longtime starter led the Buckeyes to a 12-2 record and B1G Championship in 2017.
Haskins and Burrow might be leading their teams to conference championships in 2018.
