Kirk Herbstreit gives his Heisman favorite between Buckeyes' stud QB, RB, DE
Ohio State has been rolling teams this season. The Buckeyes are 8-0. They have loads of talent.
At quarterback, former Georgia transfer Justin Fields has been remarkable as a first-year starter. Running back J.K. Dobbins has taken the full workload for the first time as a junior and is doing wonders.
Then, at defensive end, Chase Young is a top-three NFL prospect right now for a reason. He leads the country with 13.5 sacks. He’s done that in eight games.

So, which player is the best at Ohio State? Throw the positions out of the window. Who’s the best overall player?
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit talked with Sporting News about it:
“If you go to your ballot it says most outstanding player in college football,” Herbstreit told Sporting News. “It doesn’t say MVP or best offensive player. It says most outstanding college football player. How in the world do you watch Chase Young — not just because of four sacks against Wisconsin because he’s been doing it all year — and say it’s not him?”
More on Young:
“Here’s the scary thing. I think he could end up with 20 sacks. You think about all the games he has left to play if he stays healthy. He’s not going away. I think on the big stage on Penn State, Michigan and the big stage on the Big Ten championship. I think he’s going to New York, but I don’t have enough confidence in the voters that he can win it.”
He talked more in depth about Fields and Dobbins:
“I think Fields has been great, but when J.K. Dobbins gets established Ohio State is dangerous,” Herbstreit said. “When J.K. Dobbins is slow to get going, it’s like Ohio State is stuck in second gear. … This running game has been dynamic and concerning for defenses.
“I think with Dobbins and Fields, I would give Dobbins the edge,” he said. He’s not getting the national respect he deserves.”
Fields, Dobbins, Young and the Buckeyes have a bye this week before hosting Maryland on Nov. 9.
