Over the last two days, Urban Meyer has come under some pretty direct criticism since Ohio State dropped a 49-20 contest to Purdue. The reviews haven’t been too pleasant.

Monday, ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit joined the Dan Patrick Show to talk about the Buckeyes’ loss on Saturday, as well as Meyer and the state of the program. Herbie didn’t have many positive things to say, and his description of the Ohio State head coach was a bit alarming.

“He doesn’t look the way he’s looked since he’s been at Ohio State,” Herbstreit said. “[Meyer] said, ‘Listen, if I’m going to take the Ohio State job, after what I went through at Florida, I’m gonna keep my priorities straight.’

“If you watch him on the sidelines…he looks, the word I’ve used is anguished. He looks frustrated. He looks very emotional and erratic.”

Herbstreit pointed to Meyer’s description of the headaches he’s been having, which also brought the Ohio State coach down to a knee in the Buckeyes’ game against Indiana a few weeks ago.

The comments from Herbstreit validate some of the comments that SEC Network host Paul Finebaum has said. On Monday, Finebaum said that Meyer’s time at Ohio State is coming to a close because he wouldn’t be able to “handle much more adversity.”

Ohio State’s loss to Purdue was its first of the year. So it’s not as if the Buckeyes are on the verge of completely crashing. Since August, though, Meyer’s attitude has seemed different and his composure on the sideline appears different.

Herbstreit brought up some interesting points in the interview. You can listen to the segment below.
