Kirk, an understandably proud father, reacted to the announcement via social media:
Zak-
So proud of you!
So proud of your approach, humility, work ethic, desire to prove yourself, and overall positive attitude to your dreams.
This was a big day for you. Congratulations!!

Along with the black stripe, Kirk is likely due for another proud father moment in Week 1. He is likely to play a part in the broadcast for the season-opening game between Ohio State and Notre Dame on Sept. 3.
