Kirk Herbstreit rips Ohio State fans who are critical of Will Howard: ‘Embarrassment to the fanbase’

Kirk Herbstreit has enough of Ohio State fans being critical of Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard.
Herbstreit expressed his frustration with a small portion of the fanbase during his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday.
“By the way, Will Howard taking shit from Ohio State fans,” Herbstreit said, via On3, “Again, it’s that vocal 10 to 12, 15-percent, A.J. (Hawk) knows what I’m talking about. They’re an embarrassment to the fanbase.”
Howard has taken a lot of criticism this week following Ohio State’s 32-21 loss to Oregon in Eugene. Ohio State had a chance to potentially win the game with a field goal, but the clock expired while Howard was scrambling for more yardage on the final play of the game.
Statistically, it’s hard to argue with Howard’s production so far this season. He’s thrown for a Big Ten-best 14 touchdown passes on the year while averaging a career-best 9.5 yards per attempt. He’s also completed 73.3% of his pass attempts so far this season.
The loss to Oregon was tough for Ohio State, but Howard will have a chance to redeem himself in the coming weeks. The Buckeyes are off this weekend but then may have back-to-back games against top-25 opponents in Nebraska and Penn State.
