Despite Tyler Friday being out for almost all of this season, he seems to be optimistic about a return in 2022.

Head coach Ryan Day first announced the injury after the first practice of fall camp today. He didn’t provide specifics on the injury and only said that he was going to be out for most of the season.

This isn’t a crippling loss for the Buckeyes, but it’s still a player who gives them great depth at the defensive interior. Last season, Friday totaled seven tackles (two of them solo). His best game came against Penn State on Halloween when he had three tackles (one of them solo).

Ohio State will begin their quest to not only get back to the National Championship this season but win it with a Thursday night matchup against Minnesota on Sept. 2. The game will be nationally televised by FOX and will start at 8 p.m. EST.
