Lee Corso delivers headgear pick for Tennessee-Ohio State CFP matchup
Lee Corso has been dealing with health challenges in 2024 that has limited his involvement with College GameDay, but the beloved analyst was on hand in Columbus ahead of Ohio State and Tennessee’s first-round College Football Playoff matchup.
It’s always a full-circle moment whenever Corso and GameDay pay a visit to Columbus: Corso’s first-ever headgear pick came in 1996 in a game between Ohio State and Penn State, donning a Brutus Buckeye mascot head before the Buckeyes defeated the Nittany Lions.
Nearly 3 decades later, with the Buckeyes set to face the Volunteers in what should be a rocking Ohio Stadium, Corso delivered his headgear pick for the team’s Playoff contest. And, like he did in 1996, he went with the Buckeyes.
“Buckeyes all the way,” Corso said before putting the Brutus head on once more.

As Corso pointed out, the first 2 times the Buckeyes hosted an SEC opponent came in the 1930s: Vanderbilt and Kentucky stopped by in 1933 and 1935, respectively. The most recent time was in 1988, a game against LSU.
That said, this one holds much more significance. The Buckeyes and Vols face off with the winner headed to Pasadena to face Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
