Lions general manager Brad Holmes commented on the Detroit’s upcoming decision for Jeff Okudah’s contract option on Tuesday afternoon.

Holmes said that the third year cornerback out of Ohio State had some good moments throughout the season, but also struggled in some areas. Okudah had 59 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception on the year.

Holmes also stated that this season was essentially a rookie season for Okudah as he has been dealing with an Achilles  injury. He played in 9 games his rookie year, but just 1 in his second year. This season, he has played 15 games.

Across his career, Okudah has racked up 124 tackles and 2 interceptions.

The time is now nearing for Okudah to receive an extension, but Holmes isn’t ready to address it quite yet.

“We’ll address that at the appropriate time,” Holmes said regarding the extension. NFL teams decide on a fifth-year contract option ahead of the player’s fourth season.

The Lions are coming off a decent 9-8 season and are looking to make some offseason moves to get over the hump next year.
