Several Pittsburgh Steelers will be supporting injured teammate Ryan Shazier on Sunday with specially designed cleats.
Shazier was injured during Pittsburgh’s Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The linebacker was attempting to make a tackle but fell to the ground after the hit and reached for his back. Shazier didn’t have any movement in his legs and was carted off the field and taken to a nearby hospital.
He underwent spinal surgery on Wednesday. A neurologist who works with the NFL Players Association said that Shazier “may not play football again.”
To show support for Shazier, several teammates will wear special cleats with an image of the linebacker and the phrase “#Shalieve” on the shoes. According to ESPN, Antonio Brown, Vince Williams, Sean Davis, Stephon Tuitt, Cam Heyward, Arthur Moats, Tyson Alualu, Mike Hilton, T.J. Watt, Javon Hargrave, William Gay, Bud Dupree, Robert Golden, Roosevelt Nix and Anthony Chickillo will all wear the shoes.
The cleats were designed by Corey Pane.
Pittsburgh will play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. Below are images of the cleats several Steelers will wear.
