Marcus Spears lays into Chicago Bears for finally finding 'best way' to utilize Justin Fields

Marcus Spears was thrilled to finally see what he was hoping to see out of the Chicago Bears.

Justin Fields played one of the best games in his young NFL career as he led the Bears to a stout 33-14 road win over the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. Spears was on ESPN’s Get Up on Tuesday morning to complement the athleticism of the former Buckeye and the Bears’ ability to use Fields in the passing and running game.

Spears broke down the Bears’ usage of Fields:

“We said this a thousand times. We said it when Matt Nagy was there, we said it when Justin Fields was coming out of college, we said it this season. Allow Justin Fields to be an athlete. And no, I’m not going to sit up in my seat… Thank you Chicago Bears for realizing that Justin Fields is an athlete and that’s the best way to get him to play quarterback!”

Fields finished the game completing 13-of-21 of his passes for 179 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception, a QBR of 57.4, and a quarterback rating of 85.2. He was the team’s leading rusher with 82 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown.
