Matt Jones is a veteran offensive lineman for Ohio State who developed into a key piece at guard in 2022. He announced his plans for the 2023 season on Wednesday, announcing he’ll return for one more season with the Buckeyes.
“First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the ability to play the game I love,” wrote Jones “…Although I have dreams and aspirations to play in the NFL, my college chapter does not close here. With that being said, I will be returning to the Ohio State University for the 2023 season. It’s God’s plan and the brotherhood. I have unfinished business to take care of.”

Jones’ return is a big one for the Buckeyes, and it will be interesting to see where he lines up for 2023. Though he played at guard throughout the 2022 season, Jones has seen work at center, something that could come into play with Luke Wypler announcing he will depart for the NFL.
No matter where he plays, Jones will help anchor an offensive line that is already losing some big-time pieces heading into next season after another strong year for the offense in 2022.
