There were a few Ohio State fans who feared that Urban Meyer would leave Columbus for the NFL. Some even worried that he would leave for the Cleveland Browns job.

At one point, that didn’t sound like the craziest idea. After all, the likes of Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh and Steve Spurrier all dabbled in the pro game for a brief period.

On an appearance on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd, Meyer admitted that it at least crossed his mind.

“I’ve thought about it a little bit, but not for very long,” Meyer said. “I think I’m a perfect fit for college.”

No one is denying that. A 53-4 record at Ohio State is proof that Meyer is an ideal fit.

Meyer said he has friends at the next level that have talked to him about the NFL, but that talks never get very far.

“I’m at the point right now where my son is a junior in high school, I love what I do, I love where I do it at,” Meyer said.
