Urban Meyer provides update on QB starter, Braxton Miller's status
Assuming J.T. Barrett doesn’t have a brutal showing this week in practice, he’ll have his starting job back.
Urban Meyer announced on Monday that Barrett, who was suspended for the Minnesota game following a drunk driving arrest, is in line to get the starting nod on Saturday vs. Illinois.
Meyer said Barrett will start at QB if he has good week of practice. Bascially, the same as every week. Barrett is Ohio State's starter.

Meyer did add that the decision to start Barrett wasn’t necessarily a guarantee. He came back to the fact that Cardale Jones did improve to 11-0 as Ohio State’s starter with the 28-14 win against Minnesota.
“But I think it’s the right thing at this time,” Meyer said.
Jones was limited as a passer against Minnesota, and completed just 12 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. He did run for 65 yards and the game-clinching 38-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
But the Buckeyes were held to their worst offensive output in six weeks and will go back to the guy that led the Buckeyes to a 49-point effort at Rutgers.
Barrett will hope to have one of his key weapons active, as well. Braxton Miller went down in the fourth quarter on Saturday with an apparent neck injury. As a result, he didn’t practice on Sunday because of a sore neck.
Meyer said after Saturday’s game that Miller “would be fine.” But his status will be monitored closely throughout the week, especially given his history with serious injuries.
“What happened last year is still fresh on his mind,” Meyer said of Miller.
Miller, of course, missed the 2014 season after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury last August.
Meyer didn’t determine whether or not he’ll be available for the Buckeyes when they travel to take on Illinois on Saturday.
