He was not pleased with his performance and wanted to get better. Thomas fought to hard for nearly 2 years to return to action on a full-time basis (Via ESPN):

“I still have a lot more,” he said. “When I come into games and the ball’s thrown to me, I’m trying to make every play, make every catch. That’s definitely not my standard. Little rusty to me. But the biggest thing is being able to add value, put points on the board and help my team win games and come back. But from an individual standpoint, I still have more work to do.”

Thomas struggled to make an imprint in the 1st half, but he hit another gear in the 2nd half. He did not have a catch in the 1st half. Thomas finished the game with 5 catches, 57 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns.

The Saints will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the home opener in Week 2.
