Miyan Williams opened the scoring for Ohio State’s season on Thursday night, but that touchdown almost didn’t happen. At least, that’s what it sounds like to hear Williams describe the play after the game.

Facing a 3rd-and-2 from their own 29-yard line, the Buckeyes called a run play. Williams took the handoff around the right side, stiff-armed one would-be tackler, and was off to the races. It went for 71 yards and Ohio State’s first points of 2021.

Discussing the play after the game, Williams said the play felt like a dream. But his hilarious admission? Williams said he ran the wrong way on the call.

Seriously:

Yeah, that wrong direction worked out alright! Williams finished the night with 9 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Williams earned the start in the season opener but he also split time with Master Teague and true freshman TreVeyon Henderson. Henderson also produced a 70-yard touchdown on the first reception of his Ohio State career.
