Ohio State has multiple coaches who are potential candidates for the Boston College job, according to a college football insider.

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman shared his list of top candidates for the job on Thursday morning. Ohio State offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien and offensive line coach Justin Frye both made the cut.

O’Brien has head coaching experience in the NFL and at the college level. He was last a college head coach from 2012-13 at Penn State before moving on to the Houston Texans. He recently joined the Buckeyes after spending last season with the New England Patriots, but he would be an intriguing candidate for the Eagles as they look to replace Jeff Hafley.

O’Brien has never coached at Boston College, but he is a Boston native. Feldman called O’Brien a “wild card” option and said he was interested in this job the last time it opened.

Frye is a lesser-known candidate. He’s been Ohio State’s offensive line coach for the past 2 seasons and has done an impressive job in Columbus. He’s also a former Boston College assistant, serving as the Eagles’ OL coach from 2013-17. Per Feldman, Frye was a candidate at Indiana (his alma mater) before the Hoosiers ultimately hired Curt Cignetti.

Hafley, who left for the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator job this week, was Ohio State’s DC before taking the head job in Chestnut Hill.
