The nation’s top-ranked wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting class has narrowed down his list of finalists to 12. Ohio State was the only B1G team to make the cut.

On Tuesday, 5-star wide receiver Caleb Burton announced on Twitter that he’s trimmed down his list of considerations to 12. Along with Ohio State, the 2022 prospect is including Alabama, Florida, Texas, Clemson, Stanford, Oregon, Oklahoma, LSU, USC, Auburn and Georgia.

Burton is ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. The native of Del Valle, Texas is listed as the No. 3 player from his home state.

The 6-foot, 160-pound Burton has received 38 offers on the recruiting trail, and it’s easy to understand why. Last season at the high school level, Burton was responsible for 882 yards and 12 touchdowns on 51 receptions, earning first-team All-District honors as a sophomore.

As a freshman in 2018, he totaled 32 catches for 609 yards and 6 touchdowns, receiving second-team accolades.

From 247Sports’ recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks:

Good frame potential for typical outside receiver prospect. Flashes impressive timing and high-pointing ability on contested throws. Meets the ball at the apex. Adjusts well with encouraging body control. Gets off the line quickly and on top of corners in a hurry. Shows impressive burst and acceleration. Dangerous in catch-and-run situations.

The Buckeyes currently have six players committed in the 2022 class, ranking first in the B1G and second nationally. Five of the six pledges have a 4- or 5-star ranking.
