Ohio State is back on top.

Monday, Georgia lost a pledge from 5-star defensive lineman Bear Alexander, ranked as the nation’s No. 26 overall prospect in the 2022 class. His decommitment dropped the Bulldogs out of the No. 1 spot in 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, bumping Ohio State up to the top spot.

The Buckeyes have held the No. 1 spot in the recruiting rankings with the 2022 class at times, but Georgia has recently taken ahold atop the rankings. With official visits opening back up on June 1, there’s sure to be plenty of change in the next few months.

Ohio State currently has 12 players committed in the 2022 class, including No. 1 overall talent Quinn Ewers, a quarterback from Southlake, Texas. Five of those players are ranked inside the Top 50 nationally and 10 have earned either a 4- or 5-star ranking.

No other team in the B1G is particularly close to the Buckeyes right now.

Early in his tenure at Ohio State, Ryan Day has proven to be outstanding on the recruiting trail and his assistant coaches are among the best in the business. We’ll see if the Buckeyes can maintain their status atop the recruiting rankings over the next few months.
