Former Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa has had an outstanding rookie season with the San Francisco 49ers, and he received at least one award for his performance this year.

Tuesday, the Pro Football Writers of America revealed their selection for Rookie of the Year for the 2019 season, and Bosa was the pick. He was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year, as well. Los Angeles Raiders running back Josh Jacobs was the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Bosa has made an instant impact in San Francisco, totaling 47 tackles and nine sacks during the regular season. He also recovered two fumbles, forced a fumble and recorded an interception. He helped the 49ers to a 13-3 season.

San Francisco is still alive in the NFL Playoffs, and will play the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. The 49ers defeated the Minnesota Vikings last weekend.

Bosa tallied six tackles and two sacks in the 49ers’ playoff victory over the Vikings.

Bosa was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
