Nick Saban isn’t afraid to say what’s on his mind. He’s become known for his fiery attitude and argumentative tone during press conferences.

On Saturday, the Alabama head coach spoke with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt about his team’s chances of reaching the College Football Playoff. And when Saban responded, he fired a shot at the Buckeyes, who have dealt with a pair of lopsided losses this season.

“I think if we lost to a team by 30 points, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation,” Saban said. “You wouldn’t even be talking to me.”

At the beginning of November, Ohio State suffered a 55-24 loss to Iowa at Kinnick Stadium. At that time, the loss seemed to sink the Buckeyes’ hopes at one of the four bracket spots.

But with wins over Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan and Wisconsin — as well as a conference title — the Buckeyes are in the conversation. Will that be enough to overcome two losses?

We’ll find out Sunday.

Saban’s Crimson Tide finished the year 11-1 but didn’t reach the SEC Championship Game.
