Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy isn’t playing around, confirming his choice for starting quarterback following the second preseason game.

To this point, both Justin Fields and Andy Dalton have seen action in the preseason, though Dalton took the first-team snaps in Game 2. Both QBs have had positives and negatives in their play, but Nagy has settled on his starter for Week 1.

Following Saturday’s blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills, Nagy confirmed the veteran Dalton as the Week 1 starter. According to Nagy, Chicago needs to see how he performs in the regular season:

Saturday was certainly a mixed bag for both players. Dalton played the entire 1st half and completed 11 of 17 passes for 146 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Fields completed 9 of 19 passes for 80 yards, though he brings the added element of being able to escape pressure and make plays with his legs.

How long can Dalton keep Fields out of the No. 1 spot on the depth chart?
