There’s been a lot of speculation about Urban Meyer and whether he would ever be a head coach again. The Ohio State leader has said that once he steps down in Columbus after the Rose Bowl, he doesn’t believe he’ll be on the sideline again.
Others believe that there’s one school that could still pique Meyer’s interest. That program is Notre Dame.
And after the Fighting Irish suffered a 30-3 blowout loss to Clemson in the Cotton Bowl, a lot of Notre Dame fans are calling for the school to part ways with Brian Kelly and chase down Meyer. This reaction, of course, comes following a year in which Notre Dame finished the regular season 12-0 and Kelly was named the Associated Press Coach of the Year.
Kelly isn’t going anywhere, but there was plenty of knee-jerk reaction on Twitter following the loss:
Does Urban Meyer have to wait a year or can he just start coaching Notre Dame next season? #NDvsCLEM #NotreDameFootball #GoIrish

Best thing for Notre Dame now is to go 6-6 or whatever next year and offer Urban Meyer his own room at the Vatican and $10 mil per.

Brian Kelly has had just enough success, so it won't happen, but Notre Dame needs Urban Meyer running it's program

Urban Meyer and Nick Saban are both ideal Catholic candidates for the Notre Dame head coaching position. And if need be, the Vatican can and should pay for it.

If they hurry, Notre Dame can hire Urban Meyer and have him on the sideline to coach the fourth quarter! #CFBPlayoffs

If Notre Dame wants to get to these games and be able to complete, Brian Kelly has to go. Urban Meyer would be a great choice.
