Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith joined B1G Network’s Dave Revsine on Tuesday and talked about what the USC-UCLA expansion means for Ohio State. It appears that he is a fan of the move.
UCLA brings its basketball resume into the B1G, winning 11 national championships. The Trojans have had great football history with their 11 national championships as well, including back-back titles in 2003 and 2004. Smith believes that adding the 2 programs will be great the B1G.
Here’s what he said:
“I’ve really always been impressed with the competitive excellence that USC and UCLA are known for,” said Smith. “That’s why they have so much tradition and history in their athletic programs. That’s something for us at Ohio State, that is so important to we what we do. It just matches what we’re all about, besides all the other schools in the B1G.”
