A monstrous game is ahead of No. 6 Ohio State this weekend.
That’s what everyone will be watching — No. 6 Ohio State-No. 21 Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship. But what makes these teams get to the title game?
Coaching, for one. But, the players have quite a bit to do with it as well of course. How do these players get to these programs in the first place?
It all starts with recruiting.
And that’s the story for the Buckeyes on Friday. Michael O’Shaughnessy, Ohio’s top punter, chose Ohio State as a non-scholarship position over Toledo, who offered O’Shaughnessy a full scholarship:

O’Shaughnessy is from New Albany, Ohio, and so he wanted to stay in-state with Toledo and Ohio State pushing him the hardest. In the end, though, he wanted to be a Buckeye — despite not getting a scholarship.
O’Shaughnessy is Ohio State’s first punter — and likely only — one to verbally commit for 2019. The Buckeyes’ 2019 class has 15 commits and ranks No. 12 nationally and No. 2 in the B1G.
