Ohio State has canceled its spring game due to recent outbreak of the coronavirus. The spring game was originally scheduled for April 11; however, on Wednesday, the school made the official announcement to cancel the game.

Tickets purchased online or by phone will be refunded within 5-to-7 business days. Those who purchased tickets in person can be returned for a full refund.

The cancelation comes after Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recommended that people avoid large gatherings after multiple cases of coronavirus have been confirmed within the state. Cincinnati also canceled its spring game due to the virus, and Kent State is rumored to have done so, too. The Ivy League also canceled its entire spring sports practices and games.

Now, Ohio State fans will have to wait until the opening game against Bowling Green on September 5 to see the Buckeyes play.
