Ohio State is rolling on the recruiting trail right now. With another elite commitment on Sunday, the Buckeyes are now up to the top-ranked class for the 2023 cycle.

Sunday’s pledge came from Jason Moore, a 4-star DL out of DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland. Moore’s a top-55 prospect for the class of 2023 and is the top-ranked player out of Maryland by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Ohio State’s class is now up to 18 commitments for the cycle, and that group has overtaken Notre Dame for the current No. 1 ranking on the 247 Sports team recruiting rankings. The Irish currently have 1 more player committed at 19, but it is the value of the players in the class for the Buckeyes that steals the day.

Ohio State currently holds a pair of 5-star pledges – WRs Brandon Inniss and Carnell Tate – and a total of 14 prospects rated as 4-star recruits. Ohio State’s class has currently generated 281.58 points, edging Notre Dame’s mark of 280.72.

Not only are the Buckeyes leading the way in total points, but the average score for their commitments is also dominant. The average rating of 93.67 is also top in the country and is just ahead of Alabama (93.47) and Notre Dame (93.21). No other program has achieved an average rating of 93 or better.

There is still a long way to go to the Early Signing Period in December, so nothing is guaranteed. But regardless of what happens, Ohio State is well on its way to another ultra-elite recruiting class under Ryan Day.
